Ray Day takes the win at ‘Battle of the Borders’
The ‘Bathurst flyer’ Raymond Day takes his maiden victory in Open Petrol Hydro at this years ‘Battle of the Borders’ held at Mulwala Ski Gardens on the 15th & 16th of February. A quality field emerged for the event and the Bathurst Flyer left his run until the last corner of the last heat to seal the win. After dropping a heat in an earlier round, Ray had to put it all on the line as he headed into the last round. A shaky start saw Ray in 2nd place after the first lap, but with plenty of boat speed he tried his best to pass the ever consistent Greg Masterton and on the last corner pulled off a miracle (some would say) move to take the heat win and this year’s Battle of the Borders Open Petrol Hydro Championship. Congratulations!
